Friday's Quick Tip: How To Wash Windows

Simple soap, water and squeegee
This may seem like a no-brainer but I know many many Moms who still wash their windows with window cleaners.  I will tell you that they are not worth the money.  I have always gotten streaks and a horrible smell of ammonia in my house from them.  I watched a documentary about a man who became a billionaire by starting up his own cleaning company.  He said the hardest thing to clean was windows.  He tried window cleaner, newspaper, vinegar, all of them!  What worked best, fastest and cheapest was simple soapy water and a squeegee.  Well billionaire-man I will take your advice!

I have been washing all my windows and mirrors with simple soapy water and a squeegee (bought from the dollar store) since I've been married.  I love it!  So simple!  The secret is getting the water good a soapy but not too too soapy.  I also recommend a squeegee with a wide blade.  It makes window cleaning that much faster.  Squeegee from top to bottom and left to right.  I wipe the squeegee blade with my cloth every so often to clean off the extra water.  Also sometimes a hair or dust will get stuck to the blade cause a streak.  In my eight years of being married I have only replaced my squeegee once (not bad for a $1 squeegee!) because the blade was starting to come apart.  Try this MONEY SAVER and TIME SAVER for yourself!
